The WLSA Shanghai Academy A-Level Program was founded by Tony Little, former Headmaster of Eton College. It draws on Eton's tradition of independent learning and holistic education, and Winchester College's enduring motto: "Manners Makyth Man".

The WLSA A-Level Program combines academic tradition with a modern approach to whole-person development. Students build intellectual depth, humanistic literacy, and technological fluence, emerging as globally minded individuals ready for the world's leading universities and beyond.

The WLSA A-Level Program is built upon a progressive, three-tiered academic architecture integrating Regular Courses, Advanced courses and Distinction Courses. Through the Regular and Distinction courses, students master the full scope of A-Level academic standards and examination requirements, achieving outstanding results while receiving targeted English language reinforcement and personalized academic support. This structure allows each student to strike a balance among academic pursuit, personal interests and individual strengths.

Core Competency Development: The Global Impact Program (GIP)

The Global Impact Program (GIP) is central to the WLSA academic experience. Going beyond the standard exam syllabus, it is an integrated suite of courses woven through all years of high school, developing students' academic range, global awareness, and capacity for real leadership. Within the A-Level context, the GIP curriculum is continuously refined to meet disciplinary requirements and evolving student needs. Modules in Critical Thinking and Python Data Analysis provide foundational analytical and computational skills. HPQ and EPQ sharpen investigative and academic abilities. Complementing these are courses in Humanities Crossroads and Chinese Strategy, which enrich students' cultural literacy and ethical framework, fully preparing them for the intellectual environment of leading global universities.
